Rick's grandparents, Wallace and Evelyn L. McCoy, had this 40' by 80' barn built in 1950 to replace a wooden frame bank barn that was destroyed by a fire. Local contractors, Charlie Violet and Jim Harris, built the barn with help from Bob Delay and Roger Violet. The barn features 12" concrete block walls and steel I-beams that support the floor for the large hay loft. Rita's father, Robert H. Cushman, was hired to set the I-beams. The roof trusses are a unique laminated wooden arched frame that were assembled on the job as the barn was being built. Originally built to house beef cattle, it has since been used to raise dairy heifers, hogs and 4-H lamb projects. October 1, 2005 saw the barn cleaned up and used as a reception hall for the Andersons daughter Eva's wedding.
